Yala National Park

Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka .Yala was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and was designated a national park in 1938. Yala is home to 44 varieties of mammal and 215 bird species. Among its more famous residents are the world’s biggest concentrations of leopards, and is also the best place to observe other species of wildlife such as sloth bear, crocodiles, wild buffalo, jackal, spotted deer, as well as an abundance of bird life. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan Elephants and aquatic birds.
